Pride Month 2022

Going around the city; there were many “Rainbow Marketing/Washing” clothing at multiple department stores during Pride season, especially that one soulless blocky lesbian pride flag dress. So I took it into my own hands to design garments based on the flag, using iconic animated lesbian characters as mannequins.

Pioneers in Queer History, Sailor Uranus and Neptune (from Sailor Moon, the 90s Japanese Animation), is an openly married couple who lives an extravagant and posh life style. So I took inspiration from the clothing of the 1950s, but included the enormous matching bows, in reference to their uniforms. Next, I took Catra and She-Ra and put them in suits inspired by the 1970s band, “The Runaways” with some 80s elements, referencing their 1985 retro origins. Last but not least are Violet and Caitlyn Kirramen from Arcane, the more recent Netflix series. Arcane is a very steampunk, Art Deco and Nouveau inspired universe, so I’ve taken those points into consideration when I designed this matching ombre suit and dress set.
